“Firstly, let’s start with the kaftan; a classic breathable and universal piece that is wearable throughout the year. Thankfully, Ava Prologue offers exactly that with their amazing designs on daring and light tones which compliment the models’ walk and it aroused every audience that attended on that night.
“Secondly, I would personally go for Afiq M’s collection which has a very balik kampung feel to it with their linen fabric. And commonly known, linen breathes very well especially with Malaysia’s fluctuating weather,” said Lin, adding how she had approached her old secondary school friend because she wanted this year’s Raya collection for Afiq M to have hand-drawn prints and the friend is a doodle artist.
“We went to her asking whether she (the artist) can be inspired by the paddy fields in Malaysia as we wanted to translate that into our collection. From the first round, she got it right already with subtle brush strokes; not as sharp as digital prints but delicate which we then done some tiling on the Baju Kurungs and the Baju Melayu.”
“Thirdly, Nurita Harith who has hit a nail on the head when it comes to what we want for Raya. If you are looking to be ayu (graceful) while being comfortable but still sexy with a fitted kurung, then this is it,” said the 34-year-old entrepreneur, adding how you can feel almost versatile with Nurita’s pieces as her soft tone-on-tone lace with the cotton-based material combination is remarkable.

As for the models for the show, “We have decided that the make-up should be colourful on the eyes and sheer everywhere else because we wanted the colours to complement the wide variety of styles and designs that we will be showing.” She continues, “To make sure that the models’ skin looks perfectly sheer during the runway show, an Oil and Extract Mask by Huxley was applied for 15 min prior to the makeup to give instant hydration and the complexion blends so well after. The models were glowing while strutting down the runway with the Raya outfits.”
