Maybank From Heritage to Fashion’s modernity

Thread of Heritage, a truly Malaysian textiles exhibition under KLFW initiative in lieu with our national month. The objective of the exhibition is to spread awareness to the public on the appreciation of our local fabrics in view of its long durability, unique beauty and strong sense of pride. The exhibition is supported by the Official Bank of KLFW - Maybank . The event was at Pavilion KL from 14 August until 2 September, displaying Malaysia’s iconic textile fabrics such as Tenun Pahang Diraja, Royal Terengganu Songket from Yayasan Tuanku Nur Zahirah, and Batik Kelantan coordinated by Kraftangan. There are three fashion schools involved in this meaningful project - UCSI University, Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA), and SML Fashion Academy. By exhibiting these textiles that are synonymous with the Malaysian Culture, KLFW hopes to provide a sense of identity and continuity in a fast-changing world and create a thread of heritage that links our past history and culture of a nation to the future generation.
