Angel Chen X H&M – H&M’S First Ever Chinese Designer Collaboration

Well known for her colourful approach to fashion and bold coupling of Asian elements in modern silhouettes, rising fashion designer ANGEL CHEN will be the first Chinese designer to create a capsule collection with H&M. The collection will be available in selected stores and online stores of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Canada on 26 September, as well as the online stores of Macau and the Philippines. It will also launch on H&M’s Tmall flagship store.

Heavily influenced by Angel’s design ethos of East meets West, this capsule collection features an urban wardrobe of versatile pieces with strong Chinese elements in highly saturated colours like oriental red, bubble-gum pink and bright yellow. Embroidery is key, from dragons to cranes and pine trees, you can find beautifully embroidered details across the entire collection. Traditional dragon and floral embroidery are also weaved into ANGEL CHEN’s logo that is featured on sweatshirts, hoodie dress and jackets. Chinese characters such as “Yuan Qi” (energy) and “Kung Fu” written in brush calligraphy is also featured on a denim boiler suit and satin shirt.
Statement pieces include a knitted mesh suit in a vivid all-over dragon and crane print, a glamourous sequinned maxi dress with crane motif and a bubble-gum pink faux fur coat. Playful accessories such as the phone case sling and all-over faux fur bag adds a touch of fun and drama to this collection. Details from the traditional Chinese sandals can also be found in the two unisex boots from the collection, combining tradition and modern sporty elements seamlessly.


ANGEL CHEN is a Chinese designer whose colorful approach to fashion coupled with the brand’s core-concept of fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics, has made her one of the country’s brightest young talents. A graduate from Central Saint Martins, Chen moved from her native Shenzhen to study in London at age 17. Following her graduate collection in 2014, Chen launched her eponymous label in 2015. With a growing global fan base, Chen has also worked with celebrities like Bella Hadid, Charli XCX, Chris Lee, TF Boys and Fan Bingbing, dressing influential pop culture figures both in China and internationally. ANGEL CHEN was one of the featured International Designer invited to showcase at the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2016, where she nonetheless captured the hearts and imaginations of Malaysian fashion devotees seeing her colorful and complex designs for the first time.

The ANGEL CHEN x H&M collection will be available exclusively at H&M Lot 10 as well as on from 26 September.
